Making Reading Fun

The most common question I get as a reading specialist from parents is “What can I do to make my child a better reader?” The answer is simple. READ TO THEM! There really is not magic app, game, or program. Reading to your child at a young age gives them print awareness and as they get older it increases their vocabulary. Once children become school age, it can be a struggle to get them to start to read on their own. It is important to find books that keep them interested and engaged. Take them to the library, go to a local book store, or find a book based on their favorite television character! Reading 10-20 minutes a day makes all the difference!
